Together we can end and prevent homelessness, one church and one family at a time.

What a wonderful community in which we live…  After spending much of this past year evaluating how Bridge of Hope would fit into the community of existing service agencies, we have been overwhelmed with the encouragement and support we have received and the excitement about the Bridge of Hope 3-Way Partnership approach, a model that has an 85% success rate in helping homeless and at-risk mothers find permanent housing, self sufficiency and wholeness through church-based, professionally trained mentoring groups.

We have been exceedingly Blessed by our gracious and compassionate community with their financial and Prayerful support at our recent fund raising event that celebrated our first anniversary as a non-profit affiliate of Bridge of Hope National.

And now… the active ministry of Bridge of Hope Saint Joseph County can begin in early 2010.   Stay tuned for more exciting news in 2010.

A great message from Mindy Featherman of Bridge of Hope National.
I wanted to share it with all of our readers, and wish each and every one of you a blessed Christmas.
*********************
Today one of the board members of Bridge of Hope National invited 10 of her family and friends for tea. She shared with each woman how that person has been an example of hope in her life (cue tissues).

As you are with family and friends this Christmas, make time to tell them how they have made a difference in your life.

We all need hopeful friends – in the joys and tears of life. Many homeless single mothers do not have this support network.

Bridge of Hope National invites churches to offer hope and friendship to women and children who are facing homelessness.

Here are two ways you can help Bridge of Hope National find “Women of Hope.”

*Tell others about “Women of Hope” – an invitation to give $100 each year so more homeless single mothers experience life-changing friendships. Gifts from new donors received by December 31 will be matched! Go to http://www.bridgeofhopeinc.org/template/page.cfm?id=122 to join (for yourself or as a gift in honor of a “Woman of Hope” in your life).

*Help us to find “Women – or Men – of Hope” who want to start a Bridge of Hope in their community. Do you know someone who is a good networker and has a passion for homeless families? Invite that person to call 1-866-670-HOPE.

Thank you for helping once-homeless families to experience home – for the holidays – and year round.

May you experience God’s peace and joy this Christmas.

Personal Story by ‘Bridge of Hope’ Board Member (Norma Jean)

September 1, 2009

My sister, Nancy, from Lancaster, PA often told me about her work with Bridge of Hope. Her stories of working through her church as a mentor to a young woman and her children intrigued me and often challenged me to thinking about what I could be doing here in Saint Joseph County to help homeless [...]

My prayer of 27 years ago has been answered.  Before I tell you how Bridge of Hope was a part of that, let me tell you how I came to know about Bridge of Hope.
It was 6am on a cold morning last November.  As Mary, Kelly and I  did our early morning walk, they started [...]

Personal Story by ‘Bridge of Hope’ Board Member (Kelly)

June 7, 2009

Bridge of Hope has been a blessing to me.
I was having a “lull” in my spiritual life.  I went to my pastor and asked him for guidance.  His immediate response was “go to church every day!” (I wanted to fill my cup, not overflow it!) His second response was to pray each day for a [...]
